Exhibition - Wednesday 11th - Saturday 28th February
Opening Event Wednesday 11th February 7-5pm - all welcome

This body of work titled Re:Framed - Re:Homed brings together a series of paintings created on recycled wood, each chosen for its prior life and material character. Old mirrors with the glass removed, sections of cabinetry, and reclaimed furniture form the surfaces for these works, giving every piece a distinct, built-in frame marked by scratches, dents, and traces of use.
These materials have already occupied domestic spaces and witnessed everyday life. In this exhibition, they are reimagined as finished objects, carrying both their history and their present form.
The paintings move between interiors and exteriors — drawing on familiar places, cherished objects, and a personal colour palette.
This exhibition considers the value of what already exists - it's about noticing what's already there, and it's about creating a new home for old materials.
About the artist - Katie Robinson
Katie Robinson is a painter based in Central Otago whose work is shaped by observation of the everyday. With a background in science, she is drawn to geology, plant and animal life, as well as to the objects, places, and animals that hold meaning for people — the things they live with and care for.
Growing up, she was surrounded by people who collected and held onto precious objects, an experience that shaped her understanding of how deeply meaning can attach itself to things. Now living in Central Otago, where her ancestors also lived and where she visited frequently growing up, Katie’s practice is deeply rooted in this landscape. Living here continues to inform how she experiences place, memory, and belonging.
Her paintings move between quirky interiors and expansive landscapes, using colour and texture as a visual language to capture not just what a place looks like, but how it feels.
