Sally Barron

Sally Barron is a painter based in Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau. She recently completed a Master’s degree with distinction at Whitecliffe College of Art.

Working primarily in oil, and more recently incorporating water-based mediums and collage, Barron produces layered abstractions through solitary studio practice. Influenced by landscape and the body, her paintings are gradually built and reworked, with additions and removals leaving subtle traces on the surface. Her practice engages ideas of interconnectedness, emergence, and provisionality, approaching each painting as an evolving form that develops through sustained attention rather than pre-determined outcomes.

Alongside her studio practice, Barron teaches drawing and painting.
