Have you considered the immersive possibilities of the NZ art world? Railway St Studios is looking for assistance.
Established 11 years ago Railway St Studios is seeking expressions of interest from people looking to support, develop and extend the existing programs within the Gallery.
Fiona Cable dreamed of helping fellow artists increase their presence in the public domain by providing studio and exhibition space. An artist herself, she understood the challenges of being a creator and wanted to help nurture others.
‘I felt we had something different to offer, a place where people could come and see a curated collection of work, talk to the artists and see work in progress.”
Railway Street Gallery has exhibited over 250 artists. We showcase outstanding artworks in a wide variety of media and styles, featuring the talent of established career artists as well as newly discovered rising stars. People love the space, atmosphere and handy location close to Newmarket.
Having studied Arts Management at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design in 2018 while running the gallery and then her MFA in 2020 Cable has decided it’s time to be an artist despite loving her curatorial role, the allure of varied artistic expression and the personalities of people.
The walls change regularly as we host openings of new work - sometimes dark and mysterious, or playful and humourous, art that uplifts and art that challenges.
“I enjoy studio visits with the artists and assisting with their exhibitions. It’s incredibly satisfying to see Railway Street artists successfully win awards and have sell-out shows. I enjoy it when a client takes a work home knowing they will enjoy it for years to come.”
With minimal outlay this is a perfect opportunity for a new gallerist to immerse themselves in the NZ art world in a relaxed and vibrant environment with an existing client base. If this sounds like you, please email enquiries@railwaystreetstudios.co.nz.
